Brian and Anna in 2000

I remember what it was like in the beginning. On Bid Day in September 1987, Chris Judy and I went to school to get our bids and were excited that TKE wanted us to join. That night the Chi Taus and new Alphas all gathered at Jeff Nishkian's house in Highland where he handed everyone a Coors Lite at the door. Ironically the can comes in Teke colors and for awhile was the official beer. The party was catered by Rosa Marias and was a kick-ass good time with a healthy bunch of Teke Little Sisters to welcome us. It's too bad that Little Sister groups were disbanded by greedy sorority leaders and liberal executives. Those girls over our first couple of years were an awesome asset to our chapter. And Mike Shea was their Pimp Daddy.
What we accomplished over the first three years in matters of Greek Week, athletics and academics far and beyond destroyed the other houses. There was a fire that burned hot in our hearts and was fueled by the likes of Brent Johnson, Harold Vollkommer (our advisor) and other Chi Taus. They taught us to work hard and party hard. Once again these were the days were we could have a five-kegger and pass out party flyers know as TBRM - Time Before Risk Management. We'd get over 200 people at these parties and everyone had a great time.
The friendships that were created in those days are stronger than anything else I have seen elsewhere. Our common bond of the oath we took and times we spent together keep us wanting to know how our brothers are doing and I hope that this website will keep those hopes alive.
Remember the houseboat on Lake Mead and the water balloon launcher? Your first three fires? The first time you ever witnessed ritual? Lake Havasu and Copper Canyon? The I Street house (if the people there new only knew)? Road trips to leadership conferences? Trips to Tijuana? Winning our first Greek Week and lip-sync, fair and square? Walking in on Ivan and one of his conquests?
Many of us have gotten married and/or had children and our lives are much more complicated then those good ol' days. I just hope that we can remember what we went through together and can share those times again creating new memories whenever we can.
About two years ago, Stu Omar had a birthday party and for the first time in several years several of the old school bros gathered together with Steve Moore, Pete Gatlin, James Flood, Russel Phelps, Ivan Henderson, Robert LaChausse and myself. We had all taken different paths in life, but that common bond remained.
As it will forever.
